Essential oils and healing

I personally use oils in several different ways: topical, inhalation, or digestion. For topical application, one needs to know about the oil. Some can be put directly on the skin, and some are too strong and need what is called a carrier, that means you use pure oil such as fractionated coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil.

When you use pure oil directly, you just need 1 to 3 drops on the area that you are treating. The second fastest area would be the feet, because of the large pores. Other quick-absorbing areas include behind the ears and on the wrist.

When massaging a large area of the adult body, always dilute by 15% to 30% with coconut oil. If applied to infants or small children, use 1 to 3 drops of the pure essential oil to 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Children 2 to 5 can have 1 to 3 drops to 1 teaspoon of coconut oil.

Use caution when creating blends for topical therapeutic use. Commercially available blends have been specially formulated by people who understand the chemical constituents of each oil and which oils blend well. Chemical properties of the oils can be altered when mixed improperly resulting in some undesirable reactions.

Diffusers are the easiest as you are breathing the air which reduces the amount of chemicals and helps create greater physical and emotional harmony.
